Sri Gaur Purnima Celebration
Sri Gaura Purnima is the celebration of most auspicious and adorable advent of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu – The Golden Avatara. The Supreme Lord Sri Krishna, with the serving mood of Srimati Radharani, appeared as Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu to establish Sankirtana Movement – the yuga dharma for this age of Kali. He appeared on the full moon day in the month of Phalguna in the year 1486 AD at Sridham Mayapur.
Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu’s Mission
· To teach pure devotion (suddha-bhakti) through the chanting of the Holy Names
· To reveal the highest spiritual truth: Krishna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead
· To distribute Krishna-prema freely, without discrimination
· To establish the yuga-dharma for Kali-yuga: sankirtana-yajna, the congregational chanting of the Lord’s Holy Names
· To taste the internal mood of Srimati Radharani’s love for Krishna
He inaugurated the Hare Krishna movement, which continues today through the disciplic succession of His followers, including Srila Prabhupada, the Founder-Acharya of ISKCON.
