Rebuilding Srila Prabhupada’s Vision for Generations to Come
In 1975, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada, Founder-Ācārya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), fulfilled a divine vision by establishing the Sri Sri Krishna Balaram Mandir in the sacred sands of Raman Reti, Vrindavan — the very land where Lord Krishna and Lord Balaram once herded Their cows.
This temple, built with love and devotion, has since become a beacon of spiritual life, not just in India, but across the world — with millions of pilgrims visiting annually, participating in 24-hour kirtan, relishing darshan of Sri Sri Krishna Balaram, Gaura Nitai, and Radha Shyamasundar, and paying respects at the Samadhi Mandir of Srila Prabhupada.
Why Rebuild?
Many of the original buildings, including the Gurukul complex, were constructed in 1975 and have now been declared structurally unsafe by professional engineers. After careful assessment, the ISKCON Vrindavan Management has initiated the reconstruction of the Krishna Balaram Cultural Center to:
-
Ensure safety for devotees and residents
-
Preserve the temple’s legacy
-
Expand facilities for future generations
Vision for the New Cultural Center
The proposed design spans over 200,000 square feet and blends traditional aesthetics with modern functionality. Key features include:
-
A spacious new guesthouse for pilgrims
-
An expanded Govinda’s Restaurant with greater capacity
-
New gift shops and devotee service areas
-
Modern office and admin spaces
-
Underground parking for enhanced convenience
-
Beautifully landscaped open spaces for community and reflection
-
An extended Srila Prabhupada Museum showcasing his global legacy
A Historic Offering – 50th Anniversary Celebration
Our heartfelt goal is to complete and offer this new facility to Srila Prabhupada by 2025, in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Krishna Balaram Mandir. This will be a grand celebration of love, service, and spiritual unity.
